An electric bus, usually referred as an e-bus, is a bus which does not utilize a typical ICE engine for propulsion and is completely electric. The E-bus is driven by an onboard electric motor which takes power from onboard batteries or a set of batteries. Electric buses are deemed to be environmentally beneficial as they emit no emissions. They are also more cost-effective than conventional gasoline or diesel buses. The growing concern about the environment, as well as increased government spending in fuel-saving technology and substitute fuel vehicles, are accelerating the e-bus market growth across the world. As a rising number of global bus manufacturers determined to manufacture electric and hybrid-electric buses as substitutes for diesel-powered buses, the market is projected to increase. Benefits of e-bus such as thermal comfort and noise reduction offered by these would fuel the automobile electric bus industry even more. Electric and hybrid-electric buses help to reduce the impacts of solar heat buildup in the automobile and works as a filter for disturbing noises such as car horns and construction activities.  Apart from this, the high manufacturing costs and a dearth of understanding about the usability and benefits majorly limit the market expansion.

Furthermore, the governments all across the world have developed attracting programs and plans to encourage the usage of electric buses which has the created opportunities for the market growth. In addition to this the enforcement of stringent emission norms and environmental regulations has also provided lucrative opportunities for the marker growth. Developed country governments have started the tender process to fuel the usage of electric buses in their cities. For instance, in 2018, London has over 2,500 electric buses in operation, with an aim to increase this to 9,200 electric buses by 2037.
